CURLING

The Curling Season usually starts in late September and our Club is in the Perthshire Rotary Curling League which has monthly fixtures against other Rotary Clubs in our Area until the following March. We try to introduce New Rotarians to the sport of Curling with some Coaching nights and then try to get them some games in the aforementioned League. We also participate in the Scottish Rotary Curling Championships for the "Ramshead" and this normally commences with two games in Perth to decide the four teams who will play a Round Robin to determine who represents Ramshead Region 2 in the Finals which take place on the 2nd Monday and Tuesday each March. Perth Kinnoull won the Ramshead in 2004 and went on to Curl at the Rotary World Curling Championships at Lockerbie in 2006. We have also played at Brantford, Ontario, Canada in 2008 in the Friendship Event. All these events are well contested but the main thing is the enjoyemnt of the Fellowship within the Curling Rotarians. Also played Annually are the Jewel Competition if your Club has not Qualified for the Ramshead Finals and we have a very friendly match against the other two Perth Rotary Clubs for the Edinburgh Trophy.

GOLF

Perth Kinnoull has its own Internal Golf Ladder which commences in April and concludes late October where the object is for members to challenge each other to a "Friendly" game of Golf and hopefully to climb into the top 4 places by the cut off date. In September we hold our Annual Charity Team Golf Tournament which is held normally on the First Wednesday in September and has been thoroughly enjoyed by all the Golfers up at Dunkeld & Birnam Golf Club in recent years. A convivial atmosphere is evident in the Clubhouse after everyone has completed their Round following a 2pm Shotgun Start. Again we play a "Friendly" 9-holes with the other two Perth Clubs for the Presidents Putter. We also have our own "Club Outing" as well as having entered in the past a Team of four for the Wylkedin Quaich at Carnoustie early in the Golf Season. Recently some of our Members hosted Rotarians and their Partners for a few days from Western Pennsylvania, District 7280, USA and this is a reciprocal programme.

CRICKET

In the lazy hazy days of Summer at Doocot Park we attempt to play the other two Rotary Clubs at cricket? but the Rules seem to alter each year !

FISHING

A number of our members are keen fishers. usually there is an Angling Championship for the Harry Rankin Trophy  normally held at the Lake of Menteith on the 1st Monday in June and the 2nd Tuesday in September.

BOWLING

We don't have any real "keen booolers" but we have competed in the Scottish Rotary Bowls Tournament in the past.

WALKING

In November 2004 some of our Members set off to complete the FIFE COASTAL WALK a distance of some 81 miles. We completed this in fairly easy stages of approx. 5/6 miles in length and tried to tie the walk in with a visit to a nearby Rotary Club where we enjoyed their Club's Meeting and Fellowship. The Walk has now been completed on 26th October 2008 and was enjoyed by approx. half of the Club members. Further walks are planned for the Future to aid the well-being of our valued Rotary Members.
