John Laing plc provide charitable funding to support "local causes" that members of their staff have supported, or have been involved with.
We are fortunate that Irene Marsh is employed with Equion (a division of John Laing) and is therefore eligible to submit an application for this funding. The grant for this year is £500, so well worth chasing !!
As Community Service Convenor I have provided Irene with a submission highlighting the "local" group of Barnardo's: "Side by Side " which is one of Rotary's preferred charities for this year.
Let's hope our application is successful, it certainly would "Make a Difference".
International and Foundation Committee

Rotary International and Foundation held a committee meeting on 8 August 06.
Main points arising were:

Supporting the charity, Tools for Self Reliance, (see
website at www.tfsr.org.)
We are looking for the addresses of possible processors of tools, say, within twenty miles. If you know of any, we would be grateful for it. The plan is to send a general letter to such addresses soliciting support. If a person or body states that they might be interested, we can then converse with them on the type of human resource they offer.
- Preventative dental website address distribution is continuing apace.
- My weight loss programme continues.
- Our emergency relief box resource is developing.
