Aug 9th, Meeting with RIBI President
Report from Frank Muirden:
George, Frank and Mike with Peter Offer
A warm welcome was extended to RIBI President Peter L. Offer and 1010 District Governor Bill Leslie, by Mike Jamieson the President of Perth St John's at their weekly Club Meeting. President Amanda was duly supported by Mike Graham, George Delgaty and Frank Muirden. Assistant Governor Zone 5, Robin Rippin was also in attendance along with representatives from Auchterarder, Aberfeldy and Kinross Clubs.
President Peter Offer was looking remarkably fresh considering he had earlier attended a 7.30 a.m. Breakfast Meeting at Dunfermline Carnegie Club. Our own Donald McDonald set his alarm clock early in order attend. Coincidentally both Peter and Donald were previous District Governors and as such knew each other well.
During his brief talk Peter outlined the RIBI preferred projects for 2006/2007 and called for Clubs to support where possible.
The projects are:-
- The Institute of Cancer Research;
- Wheelchair Foundation GB&I;
- Impact and Barnardo's.
Before driving up to Skye, Peter outlined his overseas ventures to date to India, Romania and Africa where he and his wife saw at first hand the important projects being overseen by Rotarians in these countries.
Fellowship to the fore, a good time was had by one and all. It was good to see another Club in action and Perth, St Johns provided excellent hospitality.
Your writer failed to get a photograph of President Amanda with the top table delegation from RIBI due to time constraints. Nevertheless, our club representatives were caught on camera thanks to David Ramsay ( ex-President, Perth St Johns).
