President's October Message

September brought us sun, the Golf Day and takes me to the District Conference.

The Golf Day was a popular success. The Dunkeld and Birnam course was bathed in beautiful sunlight, the buffet was devoured and the company was excellent.

Huge thanks must go to George Delgaty and Willie Monks for organising the event, Ian E Brown, Michael Thomson and Harry Cooper for devising and operating the scoring system and all the other members who contributed with their time and generosity.

Thanks must also go to our hosts Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club. The participants enjoyed the change from Murrayshall and hopefully our coffers will too!!

The day as a whole was a wonderful example of what Rotary is all about: People of all experiences coming together supporting and assisting each other to raise money for those less fortunate and enjoy fellowship and watch a couple of fly-pasts in the sun!!.

At the end of the month I make the trip to Aviemore to the District 1010 Conference. I hope to learn more about Rotary, make new friends and pick up some new ideas.

I also hope to find that there is as little room at District for those Rotarians who find time for criticism but not for meaningful assistance as there is in this great club of ours. I hope to be a worthy representative of our modern thinking club with its strong bonds of fellowship and support for each other.

Have a wonderful month.

Editorial

The month has flown by! In this edition there is an extensive report on the Golf Day and other sporting activities. However, for logistic reasons ( always a good excuse!!) the report lacks the photos of the prize-giving and evening events. These will be included next month.
