Aug 29th - Lorri Millichamp entertained us with an interesting talk and recitals of her poems. Lorri who by day is a carer with Perth Council also writes poetry and prose for special occasions. A number of her framed works were on display during the talk.
Sep 5th - Ian MacGregor - Scottish Commonwealth Games Team Clay Pigeon Shooting Coach gave a fascinating talk based on his experience of coaching. Scottish Clay Pigeon shooters are world class but they suffer from the lack of a National training centre. Young Scot's have to go abroad to train for their sport!!
At the club meeting, Irene Marsh announced that John Laing PLC had granted £500 to the charity Barnardo's "Side by Side" in response to a submission by Irene.
Sep 12th - Business meeting chaired by Senior Vice President John Shedden. Main point arising was the need to encourage more members to participate in the McGonagall evening on 28th October, as the number of firm bookings are lower than anticipated at this stage.
Sep 19th - Bob Nichol, Regional Director of the transport consultancy SiAS gave an illuminating talk about his company's expertise in traffic congestion analysis. His talk was well illustrated, with visual effects showing simulations of Perth's traffic flow at peak times. These simulations are built from actual data and are a good approximation to the real situation. The projected traffic growth in the next 10 years gave food for thought!
