Rotarians Honoured

Two members of the Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull received awards in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list recently.

Chris Kirk, centre right, who lives in Methven was awarded the MBE and Ian Brown, on the left and lives in Scone, was awarded the BEM.

Chris, who received his MBE for "Services to the Scouting Movement", has been involved in scouting for many years and has served as District Commissioner and Deputy District Commissioner, Perth & Kinross District since 2006.  His main involvement is now with the Perth Academy Group where he has been Group Scout Leader for the past 17 years.

Ian Brown received his award for “Services to Badminton”.  He has been involved in badminton in Scotland for 49 years and, until recently, was Company Secretary of Badminton Scotland for 26 years. Ian is also a Past President of BADMINTONscotland from 1989 to 1991.(maximum 2 year term!)  Along with representatives from the three other home nations Ian helped to have Badminton accepted as an Olympic sport in Barcelona in 1992.
