29 August 2023Visit from Ben Leitch

We had a nice visit from a friend of Rotary and one time award of the young sportsperson's grant, Ben Leitch.

Ben is a wheelchair basketball player and, having played for teams across Scotland he has most recently been living and playing for Barcelona. The basketball arena being right next to the famous Camp Nou.

It was brilliant to see Ben and great to know he's doing well. He will be moving back to Barcelona after visiting family in Scotland in the summer where he tells us he's been poached for an even better team there!

Good luck to you, Ben!

26 August 2023Rotary at Perthshire Pride 2023

🌈 Embracing Pride and Community Spirit! 🏳️‍🌈 Exciting times as Alloa Rotary Club (@alloarotary) and the Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull (@perthkinnoullrotary) came together at the Perthshire Pride event today! 🎉 This marked a remarkable first for both clubs, and let's just say, it won't be the last! 💪

The atmosphere was simply electric, with Demi McMahon (@demimcmahonsinger) gracing us with her phenomenal voice, keeping everyone entertained throughout the day. 🎶 And that's not all – an array of sensational acts added to the magic of the moment! ✨

A big shout out to Xander McDade (@xandermcdade) https://www.facebook.com/VoteXander/ , the Provost of Perth & Kinross. Your support means the world! 🙌 And how could we forget the hilarious rounds of "Splat the Rat" with the fabulous @beeswaxxdrag and @officialmisspeaches? 😄🐀

Not only did we have a blast, but we also raised vital funds for the Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland, contributing to a cause that truly matters. 🌟 Here's to celebrating unity, diversity, and a future filled with more fantastic collaborations that make a difference! 🤝🌍 #Rotary #AlloaRotary #KinnoullRotary #PrideAndUnity #CommunitySupport #PhenomenalActs #PrideEvent #RotarySpirit #PerthshirePride #CommunityEngagement #SingingTalent #LocalSupport #CollaborationWins #TerrenceHigginsTrust #MakingADifference

On Tuessday 25th July we were joined by a friend of Iain Brown, Jim Lochhead, who came along to talk about the history of the Lade in Perth.

And very informative talk it was too. Jim also brought along plethora of old news and media that added meat to the bones of his talk.

Jim was given the vote of thanks for his talk by Rotarian and Vice President Iain Brown.
