The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns

Now, I wish I'd taken a screenshot of our own Brian Raine resplendent in shirt, tartan tie and Prince Charlie jacket on our Zoom call on the 25th Jan as he looked very smart. He also advised us that he was wearing tartan trews but, as we could only see him from about chest up, we could only take his word for it!

Hailing originally from Durham, Brian apologised for not having a Scots accent - this was of no matter as his speech to the Immortal Memory was enthralling, entertaining and educational. The latter giving rise to Brian's chosen profession from his working days. Besides, Durham is in the historic area of Northumbria and the Northumbrians must have been as much a menace to Hadrian as their cousins in the North, so Brian is one of our own.

Thankyou, Brian, for volunteering to give us an evening of virtual fellowship.
