Young Artist Competition

2022 sees the 15th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull Young Artist Competition, in conjunction with the Perthshire Art Association, with the Perth Area Secondary Schools since 2007.

This year we had the second best ever number of entries, 108, with 5 out of the 8 local secondary schools taking part and we were thrilled with this outstanding response which is most encouraging indeed. It would have been even better but two schools had to withdraw and one couldn’t submit their older age group work due to the SQA not returning their paintings before the closing date.

However, the large entry gave the judges from the Perthshire Art Association a very difficult task in selecting the winning paintings and I would like to thank them most sincerely for their deliberations as well as congratulating all the successful pupils and schools.

Pictured below are, left to right, James Steuart Fothringham, Glenalmond College, winner, S4-S6. Rowan Findlay, Strathallan School, runner-up, S4-S6. Kai Philips, Perth Grammar School, winner, S1-S3. Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull President Steve Fairlie. Rosie O’Flaherty, St John’s Academy, runner-up, S1-S3. Frank Glancy, Head of Art Strathallan, Best School Overall.

Special thanks to Dryad Education for once again donating the vouchers and these wonderful goodie boxes as prizes. Also, thanks to the PAA for allowing us access to their exhibition for our presentations and for framing the winning entries. Thansks also go Culture Perth & Kinross for granting us the use of the exceptional facilities in the Fergusson Gallery.

Further pictures of the winning entries and their artwork below. The exhibition runs until Saturday 10th December.
