£500 to help canoeist

Scottish International slalom canoeist, Isla Kelly, is pictured receiving a cheque for £500 to help towards her training, travelling and equipment expenses from Ian Baird, Club President. The second photo is Isla with Youth Convenor Chris Kirk, Isla’s mum Fiona and President Ian.

Isla, a pupil at Perth High School, competes in the Junior Great Britain Team and was selected for Rotary assistance from a total of five high quality local athletes who were nominated by SportsAid Scotland.

Competing at such a high level requires a huge amount of dedication and Isla regularly travels to Stirling and Glasgow in the evenings and weekends, as well as weekend trips to Nottingham and London for Team GB selection races. Her aim this year is to compete in the Scottish and British Championships, as well as the Junior World Championships in Poland and the Junior European Championships in Slovenia.

We wish her good health and good luck!
