Kinnoull Primary ShelterBox

Rotary On The Receiving End

The Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull was on the receiving end for once when the children of Kinnoull Primary School presented a cheque to the Club as a donation to “ShelterBox” which is a Rotary Project Partner.

The children chose to donate part of the proceedings collected at their school’s end of term service and 'Winter Jumper Day'. At their assembly on 11th January the House Captains presented the cheque for £419.71 to members of the Rotary Club. The ShelterBox will carry the name of Kinnoull Primary School and the school will be able to track the box in the future, so the children will know when and where in the world it has been sent.

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity and a global Rotary club project. The charity was set up in 2000 to provide rapid aid to families all over the world made homeless by disasters.

The contents of a ShelterBox will vary depending on the disaster but will usually include a tent, blankets and groundsheets, mosquito nets, stove, water purification equipment and a tool kit. Other items specific to each emergency may also be included.
