Perth's Bid For UK City of Culture 2021

Fiona Robertson, who is Head of Culture & Public Service Reform, Perth & Kinross Council, visited us this evening to talk about Perth’s recent bid to become UK City of Culture 2021 and the tremendous work she and her team put in on our behalf.   Despite the fact that Perth was not selected to appear on the short list many parts of the city’s application are sure to bring benefits to the area in the future.   Here she is pictured with President Colin Moreland and her host Ian E Brown.

Fiona began her career as a curator at Tate before leading museum/arts services and cultural regeneration projects in Cumbria, London and South-East England. With family roots in Perth, she joined the Scottish Government in 2003 working on policy areas including culture, tackling poverty, transport and housing. In 2012 she joined Perth and Kinross Council where her responsibilities cover culture, sport and community services. She is currently leading the cultural transformation programme for P&K including the development of the City Hall, Perth Theatre and Perth Museum and Art Gallery. A postgraduate in modern Scottish literature, she is Vice Chair of the National Library of Scotland and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
